“The Father’s House of Healing” Strabane
For over forty years there has been an apostolic assembly on the Melmount road in Strabane and faithful folk there have consistently prayed and reached out to the local community with the gospel. Down through the years many ministries and outreaches have taken place from the church touching people of all ages. In more recent years this has included two visits of a team of young people from California. These teams used the church as a base from which to reach out to serve the local community and demonstrate the love of God. This involved working with local children and youth based at a nearby community centre and running Bible clubs and concerts in the church. Each year the teams were welcomed and supported in this cross community work by the local Strabane district council.
Another feature of the ministry of the assembly in Strabane is the excellent working relationship that has built up down the years with other believers and churches in the town.
The current emphasis of the assembly’s outreach work centres on praying for healing; physical, emotional and spiritual, Each Sunday morning the folk from Strabane join with the congregation in Derry to worship together at River City Church. Then each Sunday evening at 6pm we hold a service in the Strabane assembly. This is a gospel service with an emphasis on prayer for those in need of healing. A time of praise and worship is followed by a gospel message and then the sick are invited to come forward for prayer. The church is also open at other times during the week for folk to visit for prayer for healing.
The Lord has led us in this direction as a way of reaching out to a community in need of healing; spiritual, physical and emotional. We believe there is power in the name of Jesus, through the ministry of His Word and His Spirit to set people free and each Sunday we step out in faith to proclaim this truth and pray for the sick.
Sunday evening meetings are open to all and nothing blesses the congregation more than to see visitors come in to experience the presence of God during these meetings. The work now goes forward under the name “The Father’s House of Healing” and we believe that such outreaches will continue to rise up in many parts of the nation as believers take hold of everything Christ has purchased for His Church.
